The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 55th Grammy Awards, set to take place on February 10, 2013 at 8pm on CBS.  Nominated in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category are Gerald Albright and Norman Brown 24/7, Chris Botti Impresssions, Larry Carlton Four Hands & A Heart Volume One and Dave Koz Live at The Blue Note Tokyo.  In the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category Michael Buble Christmas and Paul McCartney Kisses On The Bottom.  In the Best Jazz Vocal Album category Denise Donatelli Soul Shadows, Al Jarreau Live and Esperanza Spalding Radio Music Society.  Anita Baker picks up a nomination for her new single "Lately" in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category, while Chuck Loeb is nominated for Best Instrumental Composition for his song "December Dream" from the Fourplay album Esprit De Four.  In the Best Long Form Music Video category Sade is nominated for Bring Me Home - Live 2011 and Esperanza Spalding for Radio Music Society.  A full list of all the 2013 nominees is available

Dave Brubeck, jazz pianist and composer, best known for his international hit "Take Five" has died.  The 91 year-old artist would have celebrated his 92nd birthday tomorrow, December 6.  According to his manager Russell Gloyd, Brubeck died this morning of heart failure while on his way to a cardiology appointment with his son Darius.  Brubeck was born in Concord, CA on December 6, 1920 and planned to become a rancher like his father.  While studying at College of the Pacific he was bitten by the music bug and following graduation, was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a musician during World War II in the Wolfpack Band.  He formed the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1951 and released his seminal album
