- Mick Hucknall enjoying Solo Career and Life as Dad
Mick Hucknall, former frontman for Simply Red, released his second solo album American Soul last month and has been enjoying the new freedom that goes along with it. He teamed up for several concerts with a few of his heroes, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, and discovered how much he loved singing rhythm and blues. Mick says, "Working with them was invigorating. It made me realize I'm happier making music with a bit more bite." American Soul is Mick's tribute to the music of the '50's and '60's featuring hits from legends like Etta James, Otis Redding and Perry Como. Mick says he's also enjoying his new life as a Dad to his five year-old daughter Romy True. He says he's left his wild, "ladies man" days behind and won't be booking any long tours, because he'd prefer to spend time with his wife, Gabriella and Romy. Clearly the change has been good for him, as he's already finished another solo album of original material which he plans to release next year. Mick will be performing in Germany for the 'Night Of The Proms' series beginning November 29 and will kick off a tour of Europe in support of American Soul in March 2013.
