Anita Baker hits #1 with "Lately"

Congratulations to smooth jazz/R&B legend Anita Baker who hit number one on the Smooth Jazz Top 20 chart this week with her new single "Lately," her cover of the Tyrese song.  The eight-time Grammy Award winner will release her eighth album, Only Forever, on October 23.  Anita is notoriously protective of her music and says this project was a real balance of her love of the old school versus the new digital age of recording.  "I think what is challenging right now and what I’ve come into, is the ability with this push-button and digital and ‘edit this’ and ‘touch that’ [era], I’ve had to protect live vocals that I do from producers and people."  She credits Blue Note President, Don Was with respecting her work and helping to get the album into its final form.  Anita is joined on the set by several guest artists, including R&B singer Tyrese, Snoop Dog and Nathan East.
