Happy Birthday George Benson

Birthday wishes to guitar legend George Benson who celebrates today (March 22).  Benson was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and began playing the ukulele when he was seven.  When he was eight he performed guitar in a local nightclub and by the time he was 10 he had recorded his first song.  He released his debut solo album, The New Boss Guitar, when he was 21 featuring the work of organist Jack McDuff whom Benson toured with during his teen years.  Benson has won ten Grammy Awards and received the National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Master honor in 2009.  His most recent album, Guitar Man, highlights Benson's love for classic songs and his exceptional guitar work.  George announced he'll be touring Europe this summer and is set to perform along with Boney James at the Chicago Theater in Chicago, IL tomorrow night.
