You’re making progress. Now you can make more.
You’ve done some things right and some things wrong. Now you can learn from them all, and apply that experience to move forward.
You know how good it feels to stay focused on a goal, and to make a difference. Today you can earn yourself some more of that good feeling.
With your efforts, you’ve survived every challenge, and those efforts have made you strong. Now you can become even stronger.
Though you have felt fear, you have not let that fear stop you. You’ve shown yourself how much courage you have, and now you can put that courage to new use.
Through the ups and downs, setbacks and victories, pains and joys, you’ve succeeded in making your way here. You’re doing great, so keep going.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Some little something
Can you bring yourself to do one small thing that makes a positive difference? Then you can change the reality of life for the better.
Can you find it in yourself to smile for just a moment? Then you can feel a little better about everything.
Can you offer a few encouraging words to another? Then you can make the world a little brighter.
Even when you’re facing life’s most oppressive challenges, there’s something you can do to make a little improvement. And when you’ve made a little improvement, you can make a little more.
Even when life dishes out nothing but unfairness, pain and disappointment, you have an advantage. There’s some little something you can do, right now, to make it a little better.
Do that some little something, and feel your own positive power. Begin to improve reality in some small way, and discover for yourself that you never have to stop.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Live to love
Love as though there is no other purpose. Live always aware that every life matters.
Encourage and support excellence but don’t demand perfection. Every person falls short of perfect, giving life endless paths for improvement.
Let joy flow from your own life as you encourage and support the unique lives of others. Find strength in the values you treasure, while understanding that every life journey is unique.
Offer kindness along with meaningful challenge. Earn respect with your beneficial actions, and let your respect be similarly earned and confirmed.
Be so strong in your convictions that you do not have to force them on others. Be so filled with confidence and love that fear has no place to take hold.
Life is within you and reaches far beyond you. Live to love and support it all.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
You are worthy of great things, yet that’s no guarantee you’ll have them. You are worthy of greatness, and that obligates you to put work into creating greatness.
Anything is possible, yet the possibilities don’t manifest themselves. You must be realistic about the effort involved to improve your reality.
Desire motivates you to achieve, yet desire alone does not create achievement. Desire strongly pushes you, but does not do the work for you.
You have the good fortune of being able to transform your circumstances in the way you choose. The effort required of you makes the deal even sweeter.
Not only can you create richness, you can add to your strength and capability in the process. Because the work is what gives the rewards meaning and value to you.
Your persistent action is the bridge between what you envision in your thoughts and what you create in reality. Make that bridge strong, robust, productive and fulfilling.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Thankful for what you must do
When there’s work you must do, your best approach is to be thankful for it. The more thankful you are, the less burdensome the task will be.
Effort is what you make it. You can make it a pain or you can make it a source of satisfaction and treasure.
If you’re resentful about what you must do, and reluctant to get started, the person you’re hurting is yourself. There’s no good reason to be that way.
You have the power to immediately stop fighting the effort and start embracing it. Not only will you become more effective, you’ll also eliminate a completely unnecessary source of stress.
Sure, it’s easy to be thankful for the things you love and enjoy. Yet gratitude can be even more powerful when you apply it to situations, obligations and tasks you never asked for.
Be thankful for what you must do. You’ll be better at it, and a whole lot happier while getting it done.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
When the pressure is on
When the pressure is on, relax and let your efforts flow. You can do this, so don’t contaminate your work with worry.
When a deadline looms, visualize that deadline as an object that gets smaller and smaller, farther and farther away, until it disappears. In the space that has now been cleared, turn all your focus to the job at hand.
Fully embrace what you are doing, and be thankful for your opportunity to do it. Offer the work your love, curiosity, fascination and wisdom.
You don’t have to be distracted by trivial matters or pulled down by doubts. You have the opportunity to get great work done, so treasure that opportunity and do it.
People are depending on you, much is riding on the outcome, and you have what it takes to surpass expectations. You’re certain you can do this and do it well, so take a deep breath and enjoy the experience.
Though the pressure might be on and the deadline imminent, you’re not feeling any of it. Because you’re peacefully and delightfully focused on the great work you’re doing.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Aware of your assumptions
If you assume you can’t get the work done, you won’t get the work done. What if you could assume differently?
When you catch yourself saying to yourself that the task is too complicated, or the goal is out of reach, stop. Realize what you’re saying is just your own assumption, and your own assumption is something you can quickly change.
It’s easy to assume you can’t. It’s much better to figure out how you can, and then to make it happen.
Negative assumptions are made worse by the fact that they don’t go away on their own. Once you assume you can’t do something, you’ll always operate under that assumption unless you make the intentional effort to rid yourself of it.
What are the things you’ve assumed you cannot do? Perhaps it is time to prove those assumptions wrong.
Assumptions can forever hold you back, or they can light the way and push you forward. Be aware of your own assumptions, and keep only the ones that serve you best.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
There are times and circumstances when life offers you serenity. There are many more times when you can offer serenity to life’s circumstances, whatever they are.
Serenity is a powerful, effective state. Serenity enables you to be purposeful, intentional, and focused rather than fearful, anxious and reactionary.
You can choose to hold a powerful, peaceful sense of serenity within, no matter what is going on around you. When you do, that serenity flows outward to great benefit.
Let the constant chattering of your thoughts subside. Release the need for judgment and worry.
See that the most important thing is not who wins or who loses. What really matters is the preciousness of life itself, and adding richness to life.
For the moment, allow what is to be what is. Feel the deep serenity and in that good feeling see and follow a positive way forward for all.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Feel each moment
Think, but don’t let your thoughts about the situation distance you from the situation. Experience where you are, who you’re with, what you’re doing without overanalyzing it into triviality.
Your life in this universe is not just some abstract concept. It is a real, living, unique adventure, so treat it as such.
Release the temptation to outthink the moment, and find richness in living the moment. Take in that richness not by mentally outlining its benefits, but by participating in its substance.
Sunshine warms your back and a rain-cooled breeze cools your face. Treasure life as you live it because it feels so good.
Thinking is a powerful, useful pursuit. Yet there is more to life than just thinking your way through.
Feel each moment and experience its rich sensations. Be where you are in person as well as in thought.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
Problem solving power
Solutions come from problems. Achievements come from difficulties.
When something doesn’t work, you have a strong incentive to figure out what does work. When all your options have been exhausted, that’s when you create new, better options.
No matter who you are or where you come from, life has its difficulties. By working through those difficulties you can find some of life’s greatest blessings.
You are a powerful problem solver. All that power becomes fully engaged when you have a meaningful problem to address.
A problem is not a lifetime sentence of burden. It is your chance to do what you do best, to achieve.
Out of each problem, positive possibilities can arise. Find satisfaction in using your problem solving power to bring those possibilities to life.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
You can be energetic without being frantic. Peaceful energy is the kind of energy that gets work done.
Peaceful energy is sustainable energy. Peaceful energy is smart, purposefully directed energy.
There’s no need to approach your work with a sense of dread or anxiety. Approach it with a sense of joy and positive expectation.
Be thankful for the job you have to do. Be thankful for the opportunity to make a difference.
If you’re going to make the effort, you might as well make it enjoyable and productive. Instead of clenching your jaw and being uptight, relax and put a genuine smile on your face.
Give peaceful energy to your efforts. And many good things will come of them.© 2016 Ralph S. Marston, Jr.
