the wave presents the north coast farmers market update
107.3 The WAVE is proud to be partnering with the North Union Farmers Markets in 2014, sponsored by Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District  - Keeping our Great Lake great.

Tune in every Friday to hear "what's growin' on" from the NUFM Executive Director herself, Donita Anderson. If you miss it, don't worry! We'll have it podcasted right here every Friday too, with so much more.  We'll have tasty recipe ideas for what to do with all of the goodies you pick up the the North Union Farmers Markets, and more!

Melons are now in season, with the continuation of tender greens, sweet corn, and of course garlic, and in the MP3 below, you'll hear that Donita brought in some melons and kale for Mark! To marry those ingredients, here's a recipe (sort of... spinach is at least still an in-season tender green!). Click the picture below for Grilled Garlic Shrimp with Melon and Spinach salad on our Pinterest page!  ALSO, this Saturday we will be at the Shaker Square market from 8 a.m. to Noon. Stop by and see us!

Energy safe tip from Cleveland Public Power - Count on It:

If every household replaced its most commonly used incandescent light bulbs with CFLs, electricity use for lighting could be cut in half.  Doing so would lower our annual carbon dioxide emissions by about 125 billion pounds.  This action alone could halt the growth in carbon dioxide emissions from the United States, given recent growth rates.
