In 2007, he founded the Michael Feinstein American Songbook Initiative, dedicated to the art and history of American standards. In August, he was named principal pops conductor of the Pasadena Pops, replacing the late Marvin Hamlisch. His new book and CD package, “The Gershwins and Me: A Personal History in Twelve Songs,” was published in October 2012 by Simon & Schuster.
