New Avenues to Independence is celebrating 60 years of providing services and programs to individuals with disabilities and their families throughout Northeast Ohio. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, demonstrating a deep commitment to individuals with disabilities, has joined in collaboration with New Avenues to give the opportunity for people with disabilities to visit and enjoy the museum for the day as well as a reception for the 60th Anniversary Celebration. Corporate sponsorships are also helping to offset costs such as specialized transportation, logistics and communications.
Since the organization started in 1952, the rock ‘n roll theme – Still Rockin’ & Rollin’ after 60 Years – is particularly relevant. On Thursday, September 6 from 7‐10 p.m. there will be an anniversary cocktail reception for donors, dignitaries and clients that will include fabulous fifties fare at stations located throughout the Rock Hall. Attendees will also enjoy free admission to the Rock Hall the night of the event.
The evening will be rounded out by dancing to the rock music of Flame, a group from upstate New York made of 10 people with developmental/physical disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and blindness.
