Locavore – Celebrating Local Food and Drinks
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ohio Buckeye Chapter is hosting Locavore, a tasting and pairing event that will feature local food and drinks that are grown or produced within 100 miles of Cleveland. Locavore will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Windows on the River located at 2000 Sycamore St., in Cleveland.
Guests will be able to enjoy divine wine and beer paired with decadent chocolates provided by Lilly Handmade Chocolates, pastries and hors d’oeuvres from local vendors. Cleveland area restaurants featuring their favorite dishes include AMP 150 Restaurant and Bar, Carrie Cerino’s, Corleone’s Ristorante, Indulgence, John Palmer’s Bistro 44, Momocho and Nosh Eatery.
During the event, the Individual of Inspiration Award will be presented to Adam Riedy, of Brunswick. Riedy, a former member of the U.S. National Short Track Speedskating Team, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 19, while being ranked 8th in the world in the sport. At the time he was an Olympic hopeful for the 2002 games. Even though he was not able to compete due to an MS relapse, he kept a positive attitude and has remained steadfast in setting a positive example for others living with a chronic illness. He recently participated in the Society’s Bike MS Pedal to the Point Ride, cycling more than 160 miles over the course of two days.
All proceeds from Locavore will be used to provide programs and services for more than 20,000 Ohioans who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The funds will also be used for research efforts to help find the cause and a cure for the chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system.
Event tickets are $75 per person and Patron tickets are $95 (Patron tickets include an exclusive champagne tasting and the opportunity to take home a bottle of champagne).
